1918: Constantino Oberto and his Uncle John founded the Oberto brand in Seattle, Washington, resolving to sell only the finest hand-made Italian Sausages and Salami.
1943: After the sudden passing of his father, Art Oberto takes over the company at the very young age of 16.
1943 – 1964: Oberto flourishes, and expands distribution, continuing to develop a range of high-quality meat snacks, from copacola to potato sausage.
1964: Ever the innovator, Art Oberto introduces Natural Style Beef Jerky after much in-home experimentation. The product is an instant success and the company quickly doubles in size.
1967: Safeway becomes the first National Grocery Store to carry Oh Boy! Oberto.
1983: Oberto continues to expand, selling Natural Style Beef Jerky nationally, securing distribution on the east coast and, by the early 1980s, becoming one of the leading manufacturers.
1994: Turkey Jerky launches and quickly becomes one of the fastest growing items in the category. By the end of 1994, Oberto is the nation’s #1 jerky manufacturer.
2000: Oberto aligns distribution with a major global snack manufacturer, strengthening its distribution around the country and building a loyal following nationally.
2009: Oberto launches its innovative line of Steak & Cheese, and returns to its roots, once again distributing its own products.
2010: Continuing its mission to deliver only great-tasting and unique products, Oberto brings back the incredibly popular BBQ Pork Jerky.
2011: Oberto introduces its most ground-breaking innovation, All Natural Jerky, and becomes the first major manufacturer to introduce a better tasting, better-for-you Jerky.
